Blood and guts ewwww me out!
When I was younger I seriously thought about being a nurse, then reality set in. Blood and guts are a necessary evil for a nurse, dang it. I had the urge to help people, now what? So My formal education is in teaching.
Lucky for me my husband’s job took us moving around the United States. His job took us from Wisconsin to Washington State, Arizona, Missouri, Georgia, Baltimore and finally Wichita, Kansas. Moving around the US is really when I became addicted to travel. All these moves happened in about 6 years, I could pack up a 2 bedroom apartment in about a day.
Soon we had kiddos, teaching and moving for my husband’s job wasn’t a good fit. Part-time travel planning was a good fit! I could raise my kids, work and help people go on vacation. We got to take many family vacations over that time. I was in love with teaching… teaching adults how to get more value for their vacation dollar, how to take away the stress or planning and occasionally helping the geography-challenged.
Then just like that, my part-time hobby became an important full-time opportunity to help people.
I love to learn about new destinations, new resorts, and services. To learn the most information I have to eat the food (excellent and not so good), sleep in the beds (comfy to like a rock), walk on the beaches (from ahhh to Ouch) and check out the entertainment first-hand. I know you thinking it sounds great! Trust me it’s not that glamorous. I will walk miles and miles per day on these trip in 90 plus degree heat with humidity to match to get the inside scoop to provide the best information for my clients.
“Life is too short for a bad vacation!” Especially if you have to save a year to take one!
